Two Stories of Iwo Jima

I recently watched Letters from Iwo Jima  (2006) and Flags of our Fathers (2006) both directed by Clint Eastwood.

These two war films tell different stories about the same battle near the end of WWII.  Both seem to be quite accurate, but quite different films.  I think I liked Letters better . . . the story is more dramatic.  The Americans were expecting to go home after the battle . . . the Japanese were not.  I am growing to really like Eastwood’s directing, but not so much his acting.

Some intensely graphic and realistic violence.  Amazing drama and plot.  Good historical lessons and perspective.
