Thin and Yao

Two Documentaries.

Thin is a fascinating and sad documentary following a group of inpatients at an eating disorder clinic.  These young women struggle with restricting, binging and purging their food.  I’m not sure what to make of it.  I do not bear this burden, and I have not helped others to bear it either.  I still don’t get it, but this film has made me more aware of the issues, for sure.  Good one for awareness of a growing problem in the USA.

The Year of the Yao (2004) follows 22-year old NBA star Yao Ming through his first year in the United States, struggling with English and the expectations of all of China and the United States upon him.  I’m not much of a basketball fan, but this documentary was fun, exciting and really well done.  Ming seems like a great guy, a terrific player.  Definately recommended.
